Le Moulin de Salazar

In July 2000 my French husband Bernard and I started out on our adventure.

We bought a huge run down watermill, sitting on five acres of grounds looking somewhat sad and forlorn. After much work we turned it into a lovely bed and breakfast and home from home holiday accommodation.

Like a phoenix, Le Moulin de Salazar rose and became what visitors see today.

Discover the beautiful unspoilt Quercy region of South West France.

Imagine waking up to a Watermill - set in five acres where you can relax and de-stress, Salazar is situated in the heart of the stunning Quercy region of S.W. France, half way between Bergerac and Toulouse and therefore very easily accessible by air, road and rail. Come and celebrate all that is the very best of the Midi Pyrenees.

Perfect for couples and groups alike. There is so much to explore and do and I would love to introduce you to some of our hidden gems - the little known fabulous wines of Cahors and Quercy, rumoured to be the forerunners of those famous Bordeaux vines.

Have you ever dreamed of spending a romantic afternoon visiting little known villages and hamlets in the beautiful unspoilt countryside that is south west France? Then why not makes those dreams come true and come and join me here at Le Moulin de Salazar for a truly unforgettable experience.

I have now lived here long enough to know the region well, to be able to point you in the right direction for restaurants, shops, bars and where to go and what to see. I speak French so, if you don't want to you don't have to. I take care of all the day to day running so you can sit back relax and enjoy yourselves and if you need me, I am on hand.

There is always a complimentary bottle of our local wine awaiting your arrival so that you can start your holiday off in fine style and the obligatory free Wi-Fi to keep you in touch.

I have never forgotten the first time I saw my Salazar, looking out over the river beach, hearing the trickle of the water and seeing my first kingfisher, and I can promise that you will never forget your first time here either.

I am really looking forward to meeting you........à bientôt!

Paulette

This place is a beautiful treasure! I was without a place to stay and Paulette welcomed me last minute with the most open arms! She`s a truly kind soul :). The property is gorgeous and I was amazed by the comfort of the room. Couldn`t find a more comfortable bed! Everything you need in a kitchen, large bathroom, wifi and the south of France... Perfect retreat, stay here!!!!

This is such a find, beautiful suites, fabulous property and grounds and a host who really understands the warmth of a welcome. This is hospitality at its very best. wonderfully comfortable suites, great beds and lovely linen. Paulette is a fab host and great cook. You will love this place, we will be back.

We stayed for 5 nights in the Cream Apartment on this occassion and had a great time. This is such a lovely location in rural France. A great place to put your feet up, sun bathe by the pool, play table tennis, read a book and generally take it easy. This was the middle of a longer stay in France for us and it was nice to park up the car and immerse ourselves in the tranquility. The apartments are fully kitted out for self catering so you can please yourself when and what you eat. Having said that the onsite Proprietor Paulette can provide breakfast and/or evening meal if you would prefer.

We decided to take a very slow trip through France, having spent the previous week on the Canal Du Midi. By chance we came across 'Moulin de Salazar' run by the lovely Paulette. A beautiful gem set in an absolutely beautiful little hamlet. The two of us plus our pouch Beano were more than welcomed by our very tentative host. Lovely clean bed in our very own mini apartment. Paulette is a fabulous cook & host, do take her up on an evening meal in the old Mill. Viva 'Moulin De Salazar'

We have just returned from another trip here and once again it was fabulous. We spent two weeks in the cream gite which opens directly onto the balcony where there is a small table to sit and eat. As usual, we were welcomed by the lovely Paulette, who this year has her sister there who does various beauty treatments. We were fortunate to have two weeks of wall to wall sunshine, so we spent most of our time by the pool just relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Occasionally we managed to take a stroll down to the little beach where you can see all the wonderful fish. We enjoyed playing table tennis in the evening and there is a pool table to play on too. If you fancy a barbeque whilst you're there, there are plenty of spots around the site for you to be able to do this. If you want to go off site, there are lots of lovely markets to visit, and also the lovely Lauzerte with its bars and restaurants to sit outside in the sunshine and people watch! You will receive a warm welcome by Paulette, and she is always on hand to advise on anything, and will help out in anyway she can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. No request is too big. She is an absolute darling. I would strongly recommend Moulin de Salazar. We have visited many times now and will be returning again very soon. All in all a perfect holiday.

A wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing break in amazing surroundings. The Watermill is beautiful and the grounds are charming and if being totally chilled isn't enough, there are so many lovely places within easy reach that Moulin de Salazar provides the best of everything, including Paulette who is the charming and attentive owner.

We enjoyed our break so much we that we extended our stay and will definitely come back this way.

Imagine if you will looking out from your window and see egrets pottering on the river bank, kingfishers swooping up and down the river bank. Early morning red squirrels playing at the back by the trees. Walking around the grounds, and spotting grass snakes basking in sunshine, fishes swimming in the river that surrounds the property. Looking up to the sky and if you are lucky spot golden oriels swooping and calling to each other! Relax by the pool or picnic breakfast noon and night under shade. At night you may spot the 4 types of bats flying.

This is a very relaxing welcoming holiday, where you can forget the world outside and rejuvenate your inner being.

The apartment, are simple and comfortable. There are numerous markets to visit and Paulette is there to offer advice on the best markets to visit and places to eat.

We will return
