Moulin Latour

Welcome to Moulin Latour

Moulin Latour is a 19th century mill situated in 7 acres of land sloping down to a small stream. The mill is unique in that the horizontal mill wheel could still operate. There is a lot of space in the grounds to either relax or run about… and even feed the llamas!

The house has been renovated and redecorated, keeping a rural feel but really is comfortable. It sleeps up to 10 people. There are 3 bedrooms in the mill and a newly decorated independent studio in the basement.

There are 2 bedrooms with a double bed – walk in shower and toilet.

The 3rd bedroom has 3 twin beds and access to a large bathroom  with a double sink, a shower and a bath – separate WC.

Moulin Latour is now opened as a B&B all year long, except between 15th June and 15th September when the property operates as a gite.

Please enquire about prices and availability by email. Discounted price for several nights.

Moulin Latour is ideal for family holidays. Enjoy a BBQ, fishing, cycling, golf, sightseeing or sporting activities nearby. Activities onsite, also include a private outdoor swimming pool, volley ball court, swings. Llamas and angora goats are being bred on the property, you can watch them from the pool and help feed them, morning or evening.

All UK channels are on the TV. Elisabeth also runs a language school with French Immersion Courses - so why not have a few lessons during your stay!

The mill is on the outskirts of the lively village of Sainte Alvère which has a bar, a restaurant,  2 bakers,  a grocery shop. Sainte Alvère is half way between Bergerac and Sarlat, in the Dordogne – Périgord.

The Dordogne river (within easy reach of Sainte Alvère) is wonderful for swimming and there are lots of places on both the Dordogne and the Vézère where you can hire canoes and kayaks. Canoeing is a must do activity!! Or if you prefer to take it easy, you can sunbathe on the pleasant river beaches.

The region is well known for its prehistoric sites. Lascaux and Les Eyzies are among the most famous. Chateaux Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice if they decide to go on a tourist circuit from the “Route des Vins”.

Accessing Moulin Latour is easy - a large number of flights go directly to Bergerac, which is about 30 minutes away from Sainte Alvère. Car rental is available at the airport. Also Toulouse airport is a 2 1/2 hour drive to Sainte Alvère.

“Moulin Latour is a superb holiday destination. It is spacious and well appointed with a lovely, large garden and idyllic swimming pool. The village and surrounding area is fantastic with plenty of opportunities for visits and outdoor activities. We rarely go back to the same place twice but with Moulin Latour it was an easy decision to break our rule and return!”

From Mark B…. and family , UK

“Beautiful, spacious and well equipped villa with fantastic gardens.  There is so much to see and do in the area.  Liz made us feel really welcome and was happy to let the kids feed the goats and llamas each evening.  It was wonderful to wake up to the sound of the water flowing through the mill pond each morning.  We have holidayed as a family at over 20 villas across Europe and Moulin Latour is definitely among the best.  Highly recommended.”

From Richard O’D…, Ireland

“We have had such a lovely week – Moulin Latour has a charm of its own and we fell in love with it immediately. The grounds are lovely with the stream running through, many beautiful trees for shade and the pool is a fantastic size for a good swim and room to sunbathe. The house is well equipped with everything you need. There are beautiful views from every room and the lounge is much bigger than the photograph suggests. Each bedroom is a good size with plenty of room for storage. It was great to have Sky TV for the girls and for the olympic opening ceremony! We enjoyed having so many choices of areas to eat – the kitchen table which is large, the front terrace or the balcony.  We loved watching the llamas and goats – they certainly add to the charm of the place. Ste Alvere is a pretty little village and the locals were friendly whilst buying baguettes and croissants for breakfast.Thank you for such a lovely relaxing holiday – it was just what we needed.”

From Paul M, Wales

“We had the most enjoyable holiday at the Moulin Latour. Having found it on the internet and looking forward to what promised to be a lovely place to stay we were overwhelmed by the property in its grounds when we first saw it. The photos on the internet were lovely but the reality was even more impressive. The property is situated in such lovely grounds and with the little stream, simply just stunning.

“The property provided all we needed for a well deserved break and the children absolutely adored the llamas in the field and the angora goats nearby. There was plenty to do when you felt like having a break from the pool or reading your book. Games and a volleyball net on site, what more could we ask for. Elisabeth was an absolute gem with local knowledge and her way of looking after us. Needless to say that we can only highly recommend this lovely place to anyone and we will be sure to return soon!”
